Women battle thief
Police charged a Pasadena man Sunday with trying to snatch a purse from a 48-year-old woman after she and another woman refused to let go of the handbag.
Silver Rings JewelleryThe two women, Cecila Fish of Baltimore and Amy Wayland, 31, of Glen Burnie, were dragged about 30 feet before the man gave up and ran away. Neither woman was injured.
Police said Ms. Fish was outside the Giant Food at 6626 Ritchie Highway around 1 p.m. when Ryan Arthur Richards, 21, of 8561 Beacon Point Road, walked up and tried to grab her purse. Ms. Fish told police she did not let go though, and then Ms. Wayland, who was just walking by, grabbed the purse and tried to fight off the robber.
Mr. Richards eventually gave up and ran behind the shopping center towards Allen Road and Caroline Ave. Police responded to the area and officers spotted a man matching the description given by the Fendi Replica Handbags women few minutes later, and after a brief chase, he was arrested.
Mr. Richards was charged with attempted robbery, theft under $500, two counts of second degree assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $70,000 bond.
Restaurant burned
A Ferndale restaurant was set on fire Sunday night, county Fire Department officials said.

Lt. Roy Phillips, department spokesman, said the blaze at Ashley's Restaurant and Lounge, 7213 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., was started around 8:39 p.m. in the ladies' room using paper products. It was under control by 8:47 p.m.
Fire inspectors estimate the damage at $3,000 to contents. The structure was not damaged.
Lt. Phillips said the restaurant was open for business at the time of the fire, but could not say if the building was evacuated or how many people were inside.
