It seems like one of the biggest excuses Americans have for the U.S. going downhill is the rise of the Peoples Republic of China. But, really, how much of a threat are they? On Jan. 10, China surpassed Germany as the largest exporter of goods in the world, exporting an wholesale colthing estimated $1.2 trillion dollars (U.S.) in goods for 2009.
But while the sheer amount of exported goods is staggering, Chinas total foreign trade imports and exports combined fell by more than 13 percent in 09. They sell far more than they buy and depend on the patronage of other countries for life support. Chinas economy is essentially at the mercy of the rest of the world, especially the United States. The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave has a higher gross domestic product than any other country. embroidered patches to become a superpower considering almost 20 percent of the worlds population is Chinese. Plus, despite our smaller population, America has roughly the same amount of active duty and reservists as China. And the bulk of Chinas troops nearly four million of its seven million are only paramilitaries, which include militia, SWAT teams and regular police forces. America may go down someday, but not at the hands of China, at least not now. And if the time comes that we do go down, were going to take the rest of the world down with us. Greece, Rome, Spain, England and the Soviet Union never collapsed when the going was good, but rather they slowly and surely gave into another force. As our country, state and community slowly begin to crawl out of the shadows of a recession, we have to
